Executive Coaching

Coaching is a special skill requiring patience, a fine-tuned sense of listening and a motivating spirit.  From CEO’s, Managing Directors and political figures to people from all walks of life just needing a helping hand, Bob has been an effective coach in time and stress management, presentation skills, voice improvement, setting priorities, dealing with difficult people and challenging oneself to improve in many other aspects of personal and professional effectiveness.

Coaching is quite flexible and can be done over a period of time on an hourly, half-day or full-day basis.  Meetings can take place in the office, outside the office in another setting or in the privacy of your home.  With the increase of internet communication, virtual coaching sessions are also scheduled with effective results.

A woman who was brilliant with statistics had worked her way up in her company and was now promoted to the position of Finance Manager.  No one doubted her technical abilities, but she was overwhelmed with having to supervise a staff for the first time, deal with former colleagues who were now her subordinates, communicate with a tough senior management for the first time, lead international teleconferences, meetings and workshops with her soft voice and pronunciation which did not meet international English standards.

Over a period of ten 2-hour sessions, a wonderful transformation took place. Colleagues and clients took notice!  She started looking and acting like a professional, began to put life and energy into her new role and took on the challenge.  We did many exercises and role plays for presentations, leading meetings, strengthening the voice, building good relations through effective communication, increasing confidence and reducing nervousness.

Six years later, I stopped by the office and discovered that she had been promoted to Chief Financial Officer! She clearly indicated that the coaching led the way to this possibility.

Team Coaching

Team coaching is a dynamic process which involves the active participation of each team member to listen, contribute and work for the success of the team. Working across cultures with teams and individuals, I have found that the majority of issues, misunderstandings and disconnects arise solely due to poor communication.

The inability of people to express themselves clearly and articulately sabotages their best efforts, as does the unwillingness to let go of old habits and look at the situation from the other person’s shoes.  In my role as trainer and coach, I help organisations and individuals uncover the gaps between intention and action, wishful thinking and reality, energy and lethargy, words and tone of voice, speech and body language: to sense, feel, understand and be open to change and improvement. When a gap is revealed, the light bulb of recognition shines and a desire for action is kindled.

I help people develop skills to raise their capabilities to a higher professional level, to communicate and present with confidence, clear purpose and structure, and with vocal and visual impact to inform, influence and persuade, and to gain commitment and active involvement for the success of each individual and of the team.  My coaching work creates immediate rapport and an environment of engaging interaction and exercises to activate the body and voice, cultivate deep listening, encourage reflection and integration of concepts, and to take solution-oriented action towards one’s goals.

Whether virtually or in person, the resulting improvement is seen and felt by the person as well as by colleagues, lifting confidence, effective communication and productivity.
